Hi, I'm Attila Horváth, the person behind Official Classic.
My family worked in Budapest's public transportation system, and my first encounter with computers happened at the Budapest Metro Directorate when I was six years old. Looking back, that experience shaped far more of my life than I could have imagined.
As a teenager, I also tried my hand at graffiti, but quickly realized it wasn't my path. Instead, I retreated to my PlayStation and discovered Wipeout. After thousands of races, I became fascinated not only by the game itself, but by its visual world. The futuristic graphics, typography, and visual systems created by The Designers Republic left a lasting impression on me. At some point I decided that I wanted to create visual identities like those. Since then, I've spent countless hours teaching myself design, and that ambition remains one of the driving forces in my life.
In 2009, together with a group of friends, I co-founded Official Classic. The original goal was to create and distribute blueprint-style stock vectors. We achieved encouraging results, with part of our catalog being licensed by Adobe around 2010. The typefaces I designed also received positive attention and helped establish the visual direction that still defines much of my work today.
Breaking through internationally from a small country is not easy. Over time, the financial success we had hoped for never fully materialized, and the original team gradually lost momentum. By 2024, I was the last remaining member of Official Classic. The company itself came to an end, but I decided to continue the project independently. In truth, apart from the vector collections, I had already been creating most of the work on my own for years.
Today, Official Classic continues as a one-person creative project focused on typography, graphic design, visual systems, and increasingly, audiovisual experimentation. There have been some encouraging milestones along the way, including album artwork for Detroit Underground and the opportunity to distribute my typefaces through YouWorkForThem.
Alongside design, I've gradually become interested in music production. What started as curiosity eventually turned into a home studio, countless hours of learning, and eventually my first live performance under the name Official Classic Live.
I don't know exactly where this path will lead, but I do know what continues to inspire me: industrial culture, techno, typography, visual systems, and the space where sound and image meet. Whether through graphic design, music, or both at the same time, that's where I feel most at home.
If you think I might be a good fit for your project, feel free to get in touch. You can also explore my work on Behance, Instagram, Facebook, or right here on this website.
